What We Do
Earthzest Organics is a labour of love and instead of following the norm we have found a way to produce truly pure, ethical and organic skincare solutions, without the need to add any synthetic chemicals whatsoever (including preservatives).
We carefully hand-blend all our products in small batches to guarantee freshness and quality at our premises in Southend-on-Sea. We have worked closely with a highly qualified, EU-approved Cosmetic Chemist, to ensure that everything we sell is safe, effective and will last for at least a year (as long as it's kept away from direct sunlight).
We only use recyclable PET-plastic bottles, jars and tubs. PET-plastic is light-weight, looks like glass and is a high quality material that is fully recyclable and will not leach chemicals in to the soil - unlike other forms of plastic. PET also avoids the risk of exposing the skin and body to unhealthy BPA chemicals which are commonly found in conventional plastic-based skin care containers.
In addition, your order will be sent out to you in a recyclable cardboard box, filled with natural shredded paper which is made from 100% recycled material and is 100% recyclable. We also add a sprinkle of real rose-petals for a touch of luxury.
Quite simply, we are passionate about what we do and only use the best organic and natural ingredients and nothing else.
The only ingredients we use which are not organic are our salts and clays which occur naturally in the Earth and cannot therefore be classed as organic because they have not been agriculturally produced under EU-controlled farming methods. We use them because they are 100% natural and full of skin-enhancing ingredients (including high levels of natural minerals) that give a chemical-free alternative to conventional bath salts, scrubs and face masks.

Below is a list of some of our main ingredients, with more coming soon!
Cocoa Butter: Our organic cocoa butter comes from small farms in Uganda. The seeds of the cacao plant are gently cold-pressed to release the rich, cream-coloured fats that they contain and to retain the delicious chocolatey aroma - cocoa seeds, or cocoa beans as they are more commonly known, are the main ingredient in chocolate production.
Unlike most cocoa butters on the market, ours is 100% pure and retains its high levels of antioxidants and its delicious smell because it has not been heavily processed or deodorised. It is renowned for its wonderful moisturising properties as it soothes the symptoms of eczema, dermatitis and asthma and helps to restore and regenerate dry and damaged skin. It is an excellent all-over-body moisturiser that improves skin elasticity and can be used as a soothing after-sun butter and to relieve soreness, scars and stretch marks. It sinks deeply into the skin to leave it feeling soft, hydrated and smooth.
Coconut Oil is one of the most versatile and effective treatments to heal, protect and beautify the skin and hair. It has a myriad of uses and is a highly nutritious face and body moisturiser and an effective natural treatment for eczema and psoriasis. It is also a useful treatment for acne as it contains antiviral and antibacterial properties which lubricate the pores of the skin and prevent excessive facial oils being produced. Coconut oil offers a natural way to reduce inflammation, dry skin and flaking and is a fantastic deep conditioning treatment for the hair and scalp.
Our organic coconut oil is produced by local farmers in Sri Lanka and unlike most coconut oils on the market, it is not made from copra, but from fresh coconuts which are cold-pressed as soon as they have been harvested. Once the oil has been extracted, there is no further processing - our coconut oil is 100% raw and does not contain any GMO ingredients. It is unbleached, undeodorised, unrefined and has not been hydrogenated. It contains all the nutrients of the living plant, smells amazing and we believe it is the finest coconut butter available in the UK.
Cold-pressed Plant Oils
The precious plant oils we use are gently extracted by cold-pressing to retain all of their natural healing properties and are carefully selected and combined for maximum effect. Contrary to popular belief, using the correct plant oils for the various skin types will not cause greasiness or blocked pores, as they are highly nutritious and enable the skin to rebalance, heal and detoxify. We always use organic plant oils which we carefully combine with other powerful organic and natural ingredients, to give a unique range of highly concentrated skincare solutions.
Other companies use cheap, highly processed oils – we only use top-quality, cold-pressed, organic oils that are GMO-free, cruelty-free and contain no synthetic chemicals.
Plant Oils A-Z
Apricot Kernel Oil spreads well and is absorbed quite slowly, making it an excellent moisturiser and massage base oil. Its mild composition makes it suitable for all skin types, particularly sensitive, inflamed, dry or mature skin. Light in colour with a nutty aroma, its high vitamin content enhances skin elasticity, softens and smoothes fine lines and soothes inflammation caused by eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis.
Argan Oil: Prized for its skin boosting properties for thousands of years, but only recently discovered in the West, it is now one of the most popular oils for conditioning the hair and rejuvenating the skin. As a result, prices are high and without an organic certification, there is no guarantee of its purity. We sell only the highest quality, cold-pressed Argan Oil which is certified organic and contains no synthetic chemicals whatsoever.
Also known as "the Tree of Life, its anti-aging properties are due to exceptionally high levels of Vitamin E and saponins, which soften the skin and improve its texture. It reduces wrinkles by restoring the skin's water lipid layer and it also improves stretch marks and soothes inflammation (including eczema and psoriasis). It is high in antioxidants which help to neutralise free radicals and it is a gentle and effective treatment for the hair and scalp, restoring shine and strengthening dull and lifeless hair. When applied to the hands, it rejuvenates and softens rough skin and strengthens the nails and it also makes a perfect massage oil, due to its ability to ease aching joints.
Avocado Oil: A mild, nourishing, semi-fatty oil which is rich in vitamins A, B, D and E, proteins, lecithin, linoleic acid, oleic acid and folic acid, as well as phytosterols, potassium and carotene. It also contains a high percentage of sterolins, which soften and nourish the skin and are effective in the treatment of wrinkles, age spots, sun damage and scars. It also has a natural SPF of 3-4 and is very useful in hot climates to counteract the drying effects of the sun. It is fantastic for dry, mature skin that lacks lustre and for people suffering from eczema, psoriasis and other sensitive skin conditions.
Borage Oil: Also known as Starflower Oil due to the shape of its flowers, it is the richest known source of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) which is a very rare fatty acid that has an anti-inflammatory effect upon the skin. It is therefore highly effective in the treatment of acne, eczema, psoriasis, sunburn and other skin irritations. Although it is light and easily absorbed, it is deeply moisturising and supplements the body's own natural oils and regenerates and stimulates skin cell activity.
Evening Primrose Oil is a dry, thin oil that is easily absorbed and highly beneficial for eczema, acne, fine lines and wrinkles. It is extremely high in GLA, an Omega 6 fatty acid that regulates certain hormones and improves elasticity by preventing moisture loss.
Jojoba Oil: An easily absorbed liquid wax that forms a transparent, nourishing film on the skin that protects it from water, wind, dirt and all extreme weather conditions. Unlike synthetic mineral oils that clog the skin and cause allergies and skin problems, jojoba oil is totally pure and has fantastic skin moisturising and healing properties for all skin types. Because it is almost identical to the natural oil in our own skin (sebum), it will rebalance oily and acne-prone skin and minimise and unblock pores. It is also beneficial for rosacea and dermatitis and will rehydrate dry and mature skin by penetrating deep into the layers of the dermis and stimulating the production of elastin. It can also be used on the scalp to moisturise and protect dry, processed and damaged hair.
Macadamia Nut Oil: The nuts of the macadamia tree contain 72% oil which has many therapeutic benefits for the hair and skin due to its easy absorption and wonderful moisturising properties. It is a non-greasy, velvety oil that can be used all over the body without blocking pores, making it perfect for sensitive and greasy skin and its powerful anti-inflammatory properties soothe sunburn and other skin irritations, including eczema and acne.
It contains palmitoleic acid found in human skin, although this decreases as we get older, leading to wrinkles and tired, dehydrated skin. Macadamia Oil therefore has potent anti-aging benefits as it rejuvenates the skin's youthful appearance.
Rosehip Oil: This precious oil has the ability to reduce the signs of aging and is often used around the eyes and mouth to reduce lines and wrinkles. It counteracts the drying effects of the sun and extreme climates and is also helpful when applied to scar tissue, burns and stretch marks. It is one of the best sources of Omega 3 and 6 (together known as Vitamin F) which is involved in cellular and tissue regeneration. It is effective in the treatment of oily, large-pored, combination and sensitive skin, as well as for treating many skin problems including eczema, acne, dermatitis and psoriasis. Due to its high cost, it is usually heavily processed and diluted but we only use the highest quality, non-GMO, certified organic Rosehip Oil in all our products.
Safflower Oil: Contains high levels of linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that is highly nutritious to the skin as it acts as a protective barrier to prevent moisture loss. A light, dry oil that possesses powerful dirt and oil-removing qualities and forms a protective barrier to prevent moisture loss. It improves skin problems such as acne and enlarged pores and has a softening effect upon the skin, leaving it with a healthy glow. It can also be applied to finger or toe nails for improved circulation and to prevent brittle nails that break easily.
Sweet Almond Oil: Highly popular in skin care products as it spreads well and is an excellent moisturiser and lubricant. Beneficial for all skin types, it soothes itchy, irritated skin and has been used for generations as an effective treatment for skin allergies, minor cuts and wounds and the relief of eczema. It is a rich source of Vitamin E and, used regularly, it will reduce the appearance of wrinkles, scars, thread veins, age spots and restore the skin’s suppleness and elasticity. Regular massage into the hair and scalp will increase blood circulation to help prevent hair breakage and thinning and improve shine.

Floral Waters are produced by extracting the essential oil of a plant by steam distillation. The fragrant waters that remain possess the aromatic and therapeutic properties that were present within the plant when it was alive and growing and are therefore an invaluable ingredient in many skincare preparations, including toners and body sprays. Although many floral waters on sale today are only water with low-grade essential oils and synthetic ingredients added to them, Earthzest floral waters are genuine, organic hydrolats from the steam distillation of the plant and are vastly superior to hydrosols due to their purity and potency.
Floral Waters are extremely versatile and can be used to cleanse, tone and re-hydrate hot, dry and sensitised skin. They can be spritzed on to the skin during long air flights and after exposure to the sun and can be kept in the fridge to maximise their energising and cooling effects. Because they are very gentle and only contain small amounts of the plants’ essential oils, they are safe for children and can be sprayed onto a tissue to provide an effective and chemical-free wet wipe. Our Organic Rose Water is in the process of being certified for sale as a Baby Product and will be part of our new 100% Organic Mother & Baby Range.
